Lanier Fun Fact
Maybe not a fact but a smiling face from a former Lanier student. Mr. Darryl Crowe, class of 1977, was one of the visitors at the Centennial Open house this past weekend. He shared several items and was happy to share stories as well. Here he is pictured with his 8th grade picture and his certificate.
Lanier Spotlight
Mr. Mann
Mr. Mann is one of Lanier's terrific technology teachers. He teaches 6th grade Technology Applications and 8th grade Principles of Information Technology (a high school credit class). Mr. Mann has taught at Lanier for 9 years with a total of 14 years in education. He is originally from Tulsa Oklahoma. He attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma. He has lived now in Houston for 9 years.
Mr. Mann is married and has 2 lovely children. His daughter is a nurse, and his son (who attended Lanier) is currently attending the University of Texas in Austin. He also has 2 dogs, a mutt and a golden retriever. In his spare time, Mr. Mann enjoys reading, walking and hiking.
Mr. Mann thoroughly enjoys his job. He expressed how wonderful it is to work with such amazing teachers. He is so blessed to work with the best educators and professionals around. (I would include him in that list too from my child's experience). Mr. Mann also expressed his joy of teaching Lanier students. The kids are so motivated and interested in technology and it makes his days great.
Mr. Mann is an important part of Lanier. His dedication to the students and his work is evident. Thank you for helping continue the tradition of great teachers and the high level of education at Lanier.
What's Going on in the Halls?
Would it even be a middle school if you didn't walk down the hall and see some wonderful cell models. These are some really great examples of the exemplar work at Lanier.

A great afternoon was had at the Centennial Open House. People from all over the community came to share memories and tell stories. Many enjoyed tours given by Lanier students. The Lanier Choir, Orchestra and Pops entertained the crowd. Visitors brought items to be archived, wrote down memories, received Lanier swag and enjoyed a fun donut truck treat in front of the school. We look forward to the next event to celebrate Lanier!

Such a fun and wonderful evening for Lanier 8th graders. The venue, food, music, and decorations, were just perfect. A huge thank you to the Great 8 Committee for planning a fantastic event. Thank you too, to all the volunteers, administrators and staff who helped keep everything going as planned. And as a bonus the 8th grade committee was able to provide lunch/snack Monday to all Lanier staff.
Online Uniform Store is Now Closed
The PTO uniform store (physical and on-line) is closed for the year. The on-line store will re-open on July 5th and the first pick-up opportunity will be later that month during Leadership / PUPS camp (week of July 20). Lanier Administration is responsible for the used uniform sale. All details are being finalized and will be posted on the PTO Uniform website and across social media (What's App and Facebook) by July 5th. There will be plenty of pick-up opportunities before school starts.
If you are a new or incoming student, please refer to the HISD Lanier Middle School website for Lanier's uniform policy (under Our Families and Students / Student Resources). The PTO Uniform store DOES NOT sell shorts, pants or skirts. Those items should be purchased over the summer and be in accordance with Lanier Middle School policy.
We are so proud of all of our Lanier UIL students for their hard work, dedication, and Pup spirit throughout the season. Many thanks to our amazing coordinator, Ms. Suja S. Rajan, teacher sponsor, Ms. Hackett, and families for supporting our students every step of the way!
GO PUPS!

Important Notes from Ms. Valle
Has Your Child Borrowed a Uniform and Not Yet Returned It?
Hello, wonderful parents! Could you kindly take a peek into your closets to see if there are any uniform loaners your student might have borrowed for school? If your student has received one due to dress code issues, accidents, or other reasons, please return it. Our stock is running low, and we want to ensure we always have uniform loaners available for our students when they need them.
Thank you so much for your help!
Donate Uniforms!
Please donate clean, gently used uniforms that your children may have outgrown or no longer need.
We're on a mission to gather Lanier sweaters (think jackets, hoodies, and more), Lanier polos, PE uniforms, and khaki and navy-blue bottoms in all sizes.
Drop-off Location: Donation bins are available in the school foyer.

Lanier MS Student and Family Handbook
If you have questions, please consider looking through the handbook. Lots of answers found here!!!
Family Handbook
We are pleased to share the 2025-2026 Lanier MS student and family handbook. This handbook serves to provide a normed resource for all Lanier MS stakeholders to reference for answers and information about some of the most common, but essential questions and areas of interest. While this is not an exhaustive document nor does it supersede HISD board policy, state, and federal education laws we hope you find it helpful and informative as you navigate your journey as a Purple Pup.
Please consider donating something from our wonderful teachers Amazon wishlists.
As always tissues and pencils are greatly appreciated too. You can drop them off at the front desk with the cluster and/or teacher you are giving them to.
We have kicked off the 2025/26 Raise Your Paws for a Cause Annual Fund Campaign
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Lanier continues to reach new heights. We’re proud to recognize the following corporate sponsors for their outstanding commitment to our school.
Ready to make a difference? Join our growing network of sponsors and help shape the future at Lanier.
The Lanier Middle School PTO publishes this weekly newsletter (The Purple Page) during the school year. Deadline for submission in the Purple Page is Wednesday at 5:00pm.
It is the responsibility of the coaches, sponsors, teachers, parents or team members of an event or activity to submit information to the Purple Page editor.
With so many competitions, performances, club happenings and sports events we rely on submissions.
We want to showcase Lanier students, teachers and staff in all they do.
