Believe it or not this little pup is close to, if not 100 years old. It belonged to a Lanier alumni who has since passed. Her family gave it to Lanier with the story that their mother received this pup paperweight when she made the honor roll. It once was purple and white but has aged. What a treasure!!
Meet Ms. Calderon, one of the wonderful new general clerks you will see in the attendance office along with Ms. McNeill, Ms. Dimas, and Ms. Godinez. Ms. Calderon has been with Lanier for 3 weeks and has jumped in and hit the ground running. The attendance office is a busy place and Ms. Calderon works on a number of tasks daily. These include daily attendance, reminders of the ADA 10:15am time, tardies, recording absences, collecting attendance related doctors notes and the such, and making sure deadlines are met with grades. She also helps answer the phones, helps with the front desk and is willing to step in where needed.
Ms. Calderon is from Houston and has lived in New Orleans. She graduated in 2018 from Furr High School in the top 15% of her class and is currently working towards a degree in elementary education. In her spare time, she loves to read. Her goal this year is to read all the books she owns before buying anymore. Ms. Calderon is very family oriented. On the weekends you can find her with her family; cooking or grilling outdoors, watching movies, playing game and just spending quality time together.
Ms. Calderon is enjoying her time at Lanier and we are so happy to have her be a new Purple Pup. It takes a team to run such a large and fabulous school and Ms. Calderon makes a great team member. Please welcome her and extend a thank you for all the work she does.
Friendly Reminders from Ms. Carter and Ms. Bennett

Staff Development Day
Lanier staff enjoyed a light breakfast with pastries, yogurt and fresh fruit on Monday as they returned to campus. Each staff development day everyone is treated to something yummy. It maybe lunch, dessert, breakfast or snacks. This is all made possible thanks to generous parents who support The Raise Your Paws Fundraiser.

Lanier MS Student and Family Handbook
If you have questions, please consider looking through the handbook. Lots of answers found here!!!
Family Handbook
We are pleased to share the 2025-2026 Lanier MS student and family handbook. This handbook serves to provide a normed resource for all Lanier MS stakeholders to reference for answers and information about some of the most common, but essential questions and areas of interest. While this is not an exhaustive document nor does it supersede HISD board policy, state, and federal education laws we hope you find it helpful and informative as you navigate your journey as a Purple Pup.
Lanier now has its very own textile recycling bin!
Green City Recycler is dedicated to keeping textiles out of landfills and giving them a second life.
Here’s how it works: For every pound of textiles donated by the Lanier community, the school earns 10 cents. That may not sound like much, but those small amounts really add up!
So, if you have any textiles (clothes, shoes, linens, etc.) that aren’t in good enough condition to donate elsewhere, don’t toss them, recycle them in the bin! Every item helps the environment and supports our school.
Bin location: Next to the bus entrance on Harold Street.
The safety of our students is very important to Lanier Middle School. Please review the drop-off and pick-up map carefully to assist us in assuring that this process runs smoothly. Please be patient, considerate, and careful. Your child’s safety and the safety of all of our children are at stake. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Please click the above button to view detailed information on Drop Off and Pick Up.
Please consider donating something from our wonderful teachers Amazon wishlists.
As always tissues and pencils are greatly appreciated too. You can drop them off at the front desk with the cluster and/or teacher you are giving them to.
Please note that the cutoff time for dropping off lunch to your students is 10:00am.
No Uber eats orders (or other food delivery services) will be accepted for students.
Please also note that the cutoff time for early pick up of students is 3:30pm. If you arrive past this time you will need to wait until official dismissal at 4:00pm to collect your student.
