Lanier Spotlight
Ms. Cole
Ms. Cole is Lanier's Orchestra and Piano Director along with tennis coach. She has been at Lanier going on 13 years. Before teaching at Lanier she taught choir and general music at a school in New York City. Ms. Cole is originally from upstate New York. She attended the Berkley College of Music in Boston and taught at the Boston Arts Academy. She then attended St. Rose in Albany for her master's degree. She later moved to Texas and has been here ever since.
In her spare time she enjoys playing tennis, reading and doing puzzles. She also enjoying traveling and has a summer trip planned to go to the 2026 Wimbledon Championships in London.
When asked what she would like to share with parents she replied with how much she loves working at Lanier. The community is wonderful along with her students and their supportive parents. Lanier has such a high level of fine arts and wonderful teachers who bring out the best in Lanier students. If we look in the trophy cases around the school, it definitely shows and for Ms. Cole and her students it's hard to count the number of UIL accomplishments they have had over the years.
Thank you Ms. Cole for being such an amazing part of the Lanier Team. Your hard work does not go unnoticed.
What's Going on in the Halls?
7th grade science is learning all about energy transfer and displaying it in a creative way.
January Teacher Appreication Lunch
All Lanier staff was treated to a delicious lunch from The 401 Table and Tap restaurant for the month of January. Grilled chicken, pasta, salad and garlic bread were on the menu. Cupcakes from Frullino Bakery and Coffee inBellaire were ordered for dessert and the lounge was festive with a winter wonderland theme. As always thank you to everyone who supports all PTO fundraising efforts so we can continue to treat Lanier staff each month.
Please pick up your pre-orders! We have lots of orders ready to go. Students can easily pick up pre-orders at 4:00pm on Mondays or between 11:30am and 1:00pm on Wednesdays. If your student rides a bus, they can come to the front of the line on Mondays. And sticky notes work great on laptops to remind students to visit the uniform store.

Lanier MS Student and Family Handbook
If you have questions, please consider looking through the handbook. Lots of answers found here!!!
Family Handbook
We are pleased to share the 2025-2026 Lanier MS student and family handbook. This handbook serves to provide a normed resource for all Lanier MS stakeholders to reference for answers and information about some of the most common, but essential questions and areas of interest. While this is not an exhaustive document nor does it supersede HISD board policy, state, and federal education laws we hope you find it helpful and informative as you navigate your journey as a Purple Pup.
Lanier now has its very own textile recycling bin!
Green City Recycler is dedicated to keeping textiles out of landfills and giving them a second life.
Here’s how it works: For every pound of textiles donated by the Lanier community, the school earns 10 cents. That may not sound like much, but those small amounts really add up!
So, if you have any textiles (clothes, shoes, linens, etc.) that aren’t in good enough condition to donate elsewhere, don’t toss them, recycle them in the bin! Every item helps the environment and supports our school.
Bin location: Next to the bus entrance on Harold Street.
The safety of our students is very important to Lanier Middle School. Please review the drop-off and pick-up map carefully to assist us in assuring that this process runs smoothly. Please be patient, considerate, and careful. Your child’s safety and the safety of all of our children are at stake. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Please click the above button to view detailed information on Drop Off and Pick Up.
Please consider donating something from our wonderful teachers Amazon wishlists.
As always tissues and pencils are greatly appreciated too. You can drop them off at the front desk with the cluster and/or teacher you are giving them to.
Please note that the cutoff time for dropping off lunch to your students is 10:00am.
No Uber eats orders (or other food delivery services) will be accepted for students.
Please also note that the cutoff time for early pick up of students is 3:30pm. If you arrive past this time you will need to wait until official dismissal at 4:00pm to collect your student.
