Lanier Spotlight
Ms. Stevenson
Ms. Stevenson is a Technology Specialist at Lanier. She joined Ms. Hackett in the library about 3 months ago. Her days are very busy with everything Chromebooks. She processes the tickets for damaged devices and handles their return when fixed. She takes care of issues with teacher devices and iPads. Ms. Stevenson also helps teachers with their smartboards. That can be anything from getting connected, getting the display right or just troubleshooting in general. She is also involved in the process if a laptop is lost or stolen. She also helps with all the laminating and making the large posters for the campus.
Ms. Stevenson is born and raised in Houston. She attended Lamar High School and Texas Southern University. She has 2 adorable little girls, 8 and 6. She has a love of tacos (like so many of us), and she also loves to clean and sing. Ms. Stevenson is really enjoying Lanier. She gets to be involved with all of the students and teachers. She has enjoyed setting up the process of getting the laptops organized and getting them set out as quickly as possible for repairs. All her efforts do not go unnoticed. Students need their devices and she knows just how important that is. Thank you, Ms. Stevenson, for all your hard work.
***As a side note she would like to remind students to always bring their laptops fully charged and ready to go for the day. Please use the black carrying case to help prevent damage. Letting other students use your device is not recommended. Each laptop is assigned to a specific student, and they must be responsible for their device. Please do not game on the laptops. They are not made to handle gaming. Touch screens and keys are continually being broken due to gaming. Lastly if a laptop is damaged, students should bring it to the library and be very specific with what happened and what is not working. Please be as truthful as possible because it matters when the tickets are made so the technicians can fix every problem.
What's Going on in the Halls?
Take a look at these Spanish projects. Students were to express their wishes and resolutions for the new year.
Reminder From the Uniform Store
Please pick up your pre-orders! We have lots of orders ready to go. Students can easily pick up pre-orders at 4:00pm on Mondays or between 11:30am and 1:00pm on Wednesdays. If your student rides a bus, they can come to the front of the line on Mondays. And sticky notes work great on laptops to remind students to visit the uniform store.
PUP Cup was a huge success and a great evening. Thank you to everyone who attended and to all the Lanier staff for spending their evening with us. Events like this help to build community and support Lanier. It really shows just how special Lanier is.
National Honor Society was quite busy at the February meeting this week. Everyone created Valentine cards that will be sent to patients at St. Luke's Hospital. Such a sweet way to lift the spirits of someone who may not be feeling their best.

If you have questions, please consider looking through the handbook. Lots of answers found here!!!
Family Handbook
We are pleased to share the 2025-2026 Lanier MS student and family handbook. This handbook serves to provide a normed resource for all Lanier MS stakeholders to reference for answers and information about some of the most common, but essential questions and areas of interest. While this is not an exhaustive document nor does it supersede HISD board policy, state, and federal education laws we hope you find it helpful and informative as you navigate your journey as a Purple Pup.
Lanier now has its very own textile recycling bin!
Green City Recycler is dedicated to keeping textiles out of landfills and giving them a second life.
Here’s how it works: For every pound of textiles donated by the Lanier community, the school earns 10 cents. That may not sound like much, but those small amounts really add up!
So, if you have any textiles (clothes, shoes, linens, etc.) that aren’t in good enough condition to donate elsewhere, don’t toss them, recycle them in the bin! Every item helps the environment and supports our school.
Bin location: Next to the bus entrance on Harold Street.
The safety of our students is very important to Lanier Middle School. Please review the drop-off and pick-up map carefully to assist us in assuring that this process runs smoothly. Please be patient, considerate, and careful. Your child’s safety and the safety of all of our children are at stake. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Please click the above button to view detailed information on Drop Off and Pick Up.
Please consider donating something from our wonderful teachers Amazon wishlists.
As always tissues and pencils are greatly appreciated too. You can drop them off at the front desk with the cluster and/or teacher you are giving them to.
Please note that the cutoff time for dropping off lunch to your students is 10:00am.
No Uber eats orders (or other food delivery services) will be accepted for students.
Please also note that the cutoff time for early pick up of students is 3:30pm. If you arrive past this time you will need to wait until official dismissal at 4:00pm to collect your student.
