Lanier Fun Fact
Look at this treasure!!! This is a program from 1971. It really is fascinating to read through what the students preformed back then.
If you know anyone who attended Lanier and would like to share any memorabilia please have them email purplepage@lanierpto.org
It is so fun being able to share these memories with the Lanier community.
Lanier Spotlight
Ms. Rogers
Ms. Rogers is one of Lanier's 7th grade ELA teachers. She has been with Lanier going on 2 years and teaching a total of 10 years. She attended Barclay College where she received her degree in psychology.
Ms. Rogers is originally from Kansas and moved to Texas about 9 years ago. She has been married for 8 years and has 2 adorable little boys ages 5 and 3. In her free time she loves taking her boys to the many Houston parks, going on adventures with them, biking, hanging out with friends and keeping up with pop culture.
Ms. Rogers truly loves Lanier. She knows just how special the Lanier family is. She works with a great team of teachers and enjoys her students. She told me that Lanier students are one of a kind. Her students inspire her. They can challenge you, asks the best questions, and really enjoy learning. If your student is in her class know that they truly are getting taught from a teacher who cares. Thank you Ms. Rogers for being a wonderful Lanier Purple Pup.

Many of the 8th grade IB projects this year involve the Lanier community and beyond. If your 8th grade student needs to get the word out about an event they have planned, something they have made, a collection they are doing, really anything that they may need others to see or get involved in, please email a flyer to www.purplepage@lanierpto.org.
Please don't hesitate to send your IB project information.
This Week we have a Shoutout from our Lanier Tennis Coach, Ms. Cole. She has had the pleasure of coaching 8th grader, Kellen Konrath, for the past 3 years and wanted to share his success in his IB Project.
Lanier 8th grader Kellen Konrath chose to hold a raffle for his IB community service project to support the Dreamers (youth tennis) program at the Homer Ford Tennis Center (City of Houston Tennis Center). He had a goal to raise $200. He went around the Homer Ford tennis center sharing his flyer to tennis players there who later shared it to hundreds more tennis players who play out of Homer Ford on tennis messaging groups. He raised $900.
He donated the $900 to Zena Garrison (former famous tennis player and leader of the tennis centers for the city of Houston.) She has invited him to a gala at the Houston Men’s Clay Court championship where he’ll get to meet Ben Shelton’s father (maybe Ben Shelton as well). Ben Shelton’s father was a former professional tennis player and Ben Shelton is one of the top 10 men’s players in the world right now.
Kellen has been on the Lanier tennis team the last 3 years, he also trains out of Homer Ford.

Lanier MS Student and Family Handbook
If you have questions, please consider looking through the handbook. Lots of answers found here!!!
Family Handbook
We are pleased to share the 2025-2026 Lanier MS student and family handbook. This handbook serves to provide a normed resource for all Lanier MS stakeholders to reference for answers and information about some of the most common, but essential questions and areas of interest. While this is not an exhaustive document nor does it supersede HISD board policy, state, and federal education laws we hope you find it helpful and informative as you navigate your journey as a Purple Pup.
Lanier now has its very own textile recycling bin!
Green City Recycler is dedicated to keeping textiles out of landfills and giving them a second life.
Here’s how it works: For every pound of textiles donated by the Lanier community, the school earns 10 cents. That may not sound like much, but those small amounts really add up!
So, if you have any textiles (clothes, shoes, linens, etc.) that aren’t in good enough condition to donate elsewhere, don’t toss them, recycle them in the bin! Every item helps the environment and supports our school.
Bin location: Next to the bus entrance on Harold Street.
Please consider donating something from our wonderful teachers Amazon wishlists.
As always tissues and pencils are greatly appreciated too. You can drop them off at the front desk with the cluster and/or teacher you are giving them to.
We have kicked off the 2025/26 Raise Your Paws for a Cause Annual Fund Campaign
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Lanier continues to reach new heights. We’re proud to recognize the following corporate sponsors for their outstanding commitment to our school.
Ready to make a difference? Join our growing network of sponsors and help shape the future at Lanier.
The Lanier Middle School PTO publishes this weekly newsletter (The Purple Page) during the school year. Deadline for submission in the Purple Page is Wednesday at 5:00pm.
It is the responsibility of the coaches, sponsors, teachers, parents or team members of an event or activity to submit information to the Purple Page editor.
With so many competitions, performances, club happenings and sports events we rely on submissions.
We want to showcase Lanier students, teachers and staff in all they do.
