What Does “Closed Campus” Mean During Testing?

During designated state and district testing days, our school will operate as a closed campus to provide students with a quiet, secure, and distraction-free testing environment.

School remains open and students attend at their regular time. However, while the campus is under closed campus testing status, access to the building and certain normal school-day activities will be temporarily restricted.

During closed campus testing:

• The campus is not accepting visitors during the school day. Parents, guardians, volunteers, and other visitors should not come to campus while closed campus procedures are in effect.

• There will be no early student pickup or early dismissal during the testing period. Please plan appointments and other commitments outside of the school day on designated testing dates.

• Students will not be released from campus until testing has been completed. This helps prevent disruptions to students who are actively testing and protects the testing environment throughout the building.

• The PTO Store will not be open during the school day. Students and families should plan accordingly on closed campus testing dates.

• Non-emergency meetings will not be scheduled during the school day. Parent conferences, campus meetings, classroom visits, observations, and other nonessential meetings should be scheduled for another day.

• Deliveries and other nonessential campus activity will be restricted to minimize interruptions to testing.

• Campus staff remain available by phone and email. Although we are not accepting visitors during closed campus testing, our staff will continue to support families and respond to questions or concerns by telephone and email.

• Immediate emergencies will always be addressed. An immediate emergency is an unexpected situation requiring prompt attention, such as a medical emergency, serious health or safety concern, unexpected family crisis, or another urgent circumstance that cannot reasonably wait until testing is completed. Families experiencing an immediate emergency should contact the main office by phone so that campus staff can provide appropriate assistance. Routine appointments, forgotten items, transportation changes, early pickup requests, and other matters that can reasonably be handled after testing are not considered immediate emergencies for purposes of closed campus procedures.

We ask families to carefully review testing dates in advance and plan appointments, early dismissals, campus visits, and other school business for non-testing days whenever possible.
